Iran’s Foreign Minister Emphasizes Need for Global Trust at UN

During a press briefing in New York, Iran's ambassador to the UN, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, pointed out that the theme of this year's General Assembly – "Restoring Trust, Managing Change: A United Nations that Works for All" – provides a timely forum to discuss why confidence in the United Nations has eroded. He argued that the perception of bias against Iran, especially regarding the deaths of 168 innocent children in a single incident, fuels that mistrust. Araghchi said Iran will use the assembly to condemn what it calls disproportionate actions by Israel and to demand accountability. The Iranian team also plans to meet representatives of the Islamic Cooperation Organization and the Non‑Aligned Movement, while President Pezeshkian prepares to address the assembly and engage with international scholars and journalists.
