Iran‑Gulf Ministers’ Meeting in Oman Deferred Pending New Schedule

Oman’s foreign minister, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, posted on X that the high‑level ministers’ gathering of Iran and Gulf states planned for Monday in Salalah will not take place as intended. The suspension is described as a step to maintain consensus across the board.

Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson confirmed the cancellation. Mohammad Ali Baq, overseeing Gulf affairs, said the decision was taken after several regional governments requested more time and after Tehran and Muscat reached a mutual agreement.

The two governments are now in constant dialogue to select an appropriate new date that guarantees thorough preparation. Key topics on the original agenda included the establishment of secure sea lanes in the Hormuz Strait, an issue already under negotiation between the two nations.

In parallel, Iraq has begun a phased reopening of its main border crossings with Iran—Shalamcheh, Mandali, and Al‑Shib—following a security and administrative assessment, allowing the resumption of passenger movement and commercial activity.
