Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian reportedly sustained minor leg injuries during an alleged Israeli air strike targeting a meeting of the Supreme National Security Council in Tehran on June 15. According to a senior Iranian official, the attack occurred during a high-level meeting attended by the heads of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government, along with other senior officials. The official confirmed that the attack was an assassination attempt aimed at overthrowing the government. Six missiles reportedly struck the building’s entrances and exits, cutting off escape routes and airflow. While officials managed to escape through a pre-designated emergency exit, the president was injured during the evacuation. Authorities have launched an investigation into possible Israeli spies, citing the accuracy of the intelligence possessed by the ‘enemy’. In a recent interview, President Pezeshkian stated that Israel attempted to assassinate him. These events follow an earlier bombing campaign by Israel in June that resulted in casualties. Retaliatory actions by Iran and subsequent events led to a ceasefire brokered by the US.
