Israeli forces have been engaged in ongoing attacks against the Houthis for nearly two years. While attacks from Hezbollah and Hamas have subsided due to Israeli actions, Houthi rebels continue to launch periodic attacks against Israel. On Sunday morning, the Israeli military conducted a series of strikes in Sana’a, the capital of Yemen, targeting the Haziz power station located south of Sana’a. This power station is a critical facility responsible for supplying electricity to the capital city. Reports indicate that the attacks specifically targeted the station’s generators, rendering them inoperable and disrupting the power supply to the area. Israeli media later confirmed that the Israeli Navy was behind the attack on the power station. Houthi political bureau member Hazem al-Asad stated that Israel is deliberately targeting essential service facilities, emphasizing that these attacks are aimed at Yemen’s critical infrastructure. The Houthis claim that Israel’s actions are targeting Yemeni civilians. This attack occurred amidst a period of Houthi military operations in support of Gaza, which have involved targeting Israeli-linked ships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea. The Yemeni armed forces have repeatedly stated that these operations will continue until the Israeli aggression against Gaza ceases and the siege is lifted. Israel, the United States, and the United Kingdom have retaliated against Houthi attacks by targeting Houthi positions in Yemen, including civilian infrastructure, resulting in civilian casualties, including women and children.
