Javelin Deal Could Open Path for Indo‑US Joint Production

The United States’ top diplomat in India, Ambassador Sergio Gor, posted on X that Delhi is moving forward with plans to acquire the Javelin anti‑tank missile system, a platform that has already been field‑tested in battle.

Gor linked the prospective purchase to statements made by Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth at the May 2026 Shangri‑La Dialogue, where the missile’s proven combat performance was emphasized. He described the transaction as a "critical advancement" that could unlock co‑production opportunities for both countries.

According to Gor, defence and strategic collaboration between India and the United States have reached a historic peak, with the Javelin contract potentially serving as a catalyst for deeper industrial cooperation.

The ambassador’s day also included a visit to Gandhi Smriti, where he paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and later met senior diplomatic representatives from Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada and New Zealand – Philip Green, Linda Cameron, Chris Kooter and Patrick Rata. He highlighted the exchange of views on a range of security topics as “productive and meaningful.”
