Kyiv under attack: ballistic missile hits civilian infrastructure, Zelensky addresses US Congress

During a high‑level discussion with members of the United States Congress, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky observed a sudden flash of light as a Russian ballistic missile slammed into Kyiv. The strike targeted civilian infrastructure, including a maternity hospital, apartment blocks and power facilities. Two people were confirmed dead, while emergency responders continue to search for survivors in the rubble. Zelensky highlighted that the assault was meant to pressure Ukraine while diplomatic talks were underway. He urged Congress to approve additional funding for air‑defence interceptors and to expand sanctions on entities that support Russia’s missile program.
