New York City’s mayoral election is heating up, with Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani establishing a strong lead over his rivals. Approximately 735,000 votes have been cast, indicating a significant engagement from the electorate, particularly among younger demographics. Early voting saw a surge, with over 151,000 ballots submitted on the final day alone. Recent polls suggest Mamdani is firmly in front, holding a comfortable margin against former Governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa. An AtlasIntel poll placed Mamdani at 41% support, with Cuomo at 34% and Sliwa at 24%. While this represents his narrowest lead in months, earlier surveys from Fox News-Beacon Research and Marist University indicated a more substantial advantage for Mamdani. The enthusiasm for early voting was particularly noticeable among voters under 35, who increased their participation significantly towards the end of the early voting period.
