Modi’s Bishkek Menu Includes Theepala, Plov and Vegetarian Laghman

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will spend two days in Kyrgyzstan’s capital, Bishkek, after his Uzbekistan tour. The Indian community’s Gandhi Restaurant has been selected to cater the official meals. Chef Chinmay Badodekar said the breakfast spread will feature poha, upma, and idli‑sambar – dishes Modi enjoys at home.

Lunch will bring together the traditional Gujarati theepala with a home‑cooked dal‑rice and vegetable sides, while dinner will be a simple khichdi‑kadhi. To honor local cuisine, a vegetarian adaptation of the Kyrgyz plov will replace the usual meat, and a fully plant‑based laghman – a noodle dish typically fried – will be served for the evening.

Every component of the menu undergoes laboratory analysis, and three verification teams will clear the food before it reaches the prime minister. The event aligns with Modi’s participation in the 26th SCO summit scheduled for September 1.
