Modi Emphasizes Stability in West Asia During BRICS Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President Pajashkian on Friday in New Delhi, ahead of the 18th BRICS summit. Modi stressed the need for lasting peace and security in West Asia, calling for collective diplomatic efforts to de‑escalate tensions.

The prime minister also highlighted the importance of free navigation, trade freedom, and the safety of seafarers as integral to regional prosperity. He praised Iran’s willingness to remain an active participant in BRICS discussions, noting that constructive engagement can help overcome “difficult circumstances”.

Modi concluded by emphasizing the role of BRICS in supporting infrastructure, innovation and sustainable growth across Global South nations.
