Expert Sees Reduced Border Tension After Modi‑Shi Dialogue

Professor B.R. Deepak, speaking to a Hindi news correspondent, said the meeting between Modi and Xi could generate a practical shift toward controlled cooperation, easing the pressure on the contested frontier. He asserted that calmer borders would mitigate strategic uncertainties and open space for deeper economic integration. Areas such as trade, joint ventures in electronics, and energy projects stand to benefit, while direct flight operations already signal a thaw in people‑to‑people contact. Nevertheless, Deepak warned that unresolved disputes, trade imbalances and technology dependence remain challenges, and India will need to balance relations with the United States, Japan and other partners.
