The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States has apprehended a woman in India who was on the agency’s “Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitives” list. The woman, Cindy Rodriguez Singh, is accused of murdering her 6-year-old son, Rodriguez Alvarez. Texas police had issued a warrant for her arrest on charges of capital murder, which involves the killing of a child under the age of 10. The FBI had also charged her with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
Following an Interpol red notice issued on October 3, 2024, US agencies provided the Indian government with a complete extradition package. Authorities from both India and the US collaborated to make the arrest. FBI Director Kash Patel stated that the arrest demonstrates that criminals cannot escape justice, regardless of where they flee. The case began on March 20, 2023, when the Everman Police Department in Texas conducted a welfare check at the child’s home. It was discovered that the child had not been seen since October 2022. The child suffered from serious health and developmental issues, including lung disease, weak bones, and other complications. According to the police, Singh falsely told officers that her son was living with his biological father in Mexico. However, this claim proved to be untrue. On March 22, 2023, Singh fled to India with her husband and six children. Investigations confirmed that her son was not with them. She was added to the FBI’s “Most Wanted” list in July 2023 and has now been arrested in India.
