Elon Musk removed a tweet referencing the Epstein files and including former U.S. President Donald Trump’s name, following a public disagreement between the two. The online clash escalated after Musk suggested Trump’s name in the files might be the reason for their delayed release. Musk had previously resigned from his role as a special government employee within the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), citing a desire to concentrate on his business ventures. Reports indicate Musk was displeased with Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill.’
Musk’s original post on X stated, “Donald Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” The tweet was subsequently deleted. However, Musk later hinted at a possible reconciliation in response to a post by American Fund Manager Bill Ackman. Ackman wrote, “I support @realDonaldTrump and @elonmusk and they should make peace for the benefit of our great country. We are much stronger together than apart.” Musk replied, “ You’s are not wrong.”
The disagreement occurred during a critical moment for Trump’s proposed ‘big, beautiful bill,’ encompassing significant tax cuts and increased military spending. The public feud saw both figures utilizing social media to exchange harsh criticism and accusations. The spat reached a peak when Musk made explosive allegations regarding Trump’s association with Jeffrey Epstein, intensifying their personal conflict. This occurred less than a week after Musk left his position within the Department of Government Efficiency.
U.S. Vice President JD Vance expressed support for Donald Trump amidst the public dispute. In a post on X, Vance stated, “President Trump has done more than any person in my lifetime to earn the trust of the movement he leads. I’m proud to stand beside him.”
