He criticized New Delhi’s trade practices and geopolitical alliances, claiming they run counter to US interests, despite acknowledging Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He stated that India’s high tariffs hurt American workers and taxpayers, as well as the Ukrainians. Furthermore, Navarro claimed that India’s engagement with Russia and China undermines its democratic status. His remarks followed Prime Minister Modi’s discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the SCO summit. The statement comes amidst global concerns over the US President’s tariffs, which a US Appeals Court has deemed illegal.
