New Guwahati airport terminal hailed as gateway for UK investors

The fresh terminal at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport has become a symbol of Assam’s rapid infrastructural progress. During his visit, Dr. Andrew Flaming remarked that the terminal’s sleek layout and efficient operations could entice British investment in the region’s logistics and tourism sectors.

Chief Minister Sarma highlighted the terminal’s use of indigenous design elements, noting how bamboo panels and native plant species create a distinct ambience that mirrors Singapore’s urban aesthetic. This blend of functionality and cultural identity, he said, positions Assam as an emerging hub for international trade.

The dialogue between the two leaders took place as several UK construction and engineering firms prepare to meet local stakeholders later in the week, signalling a potential surge in collaborative projects aimed at enhancing connectivity across India's Northeastern corridor.
