Pakistan’s Hoonain Accused of Breaching 1991 Sea‑Distance Agreement

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that the Pakistani vessel Hoonain’s maneuver violated Article 10 of the 1991 accord on advance notice for military exercises, which mandates a three‑nautical‑mile buffer between naval units. The spokesperson said the overtaking action was dangerous and contravened both the bilateral agreement and established international maritime norms.

India called on Pakistan to ensure all its naval units exercise due caution and respect the provisions of existing treaties, thereby avoiding any future incidents in international waters.
