Panama‑Flagged Vessel Hit Near Oman, 13 Indians Rescued, One Still Missing

A Panama‑registered merchant ship carrying fourteen Indian citizens was attacked near the Omani coastline on Sunday, prompting a joint rescue operation by Omani forces and Indian diplomatic staff. While thirteen of the crew have been safely recovered, a single Indian sailor remains missing on board the vessel.

The Ministry of External Affairs released a statement confirming that the Indian embassy in Oman is staying in close contact with local officials and continuing the search.

The ministry also condemned the violent act, calling for an end to attacks on commercial shipping and demanding that normal, free navigation be re‑established in the strategic waterways of the region.
