President Masoud Pezeshkian has reaffirmed that Iran will not pursue any deal with the United States without the direct authorization of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. In a statement reported by Tasnim News Agency, he cautioned against divisive rhetoric, noting that internal discord benefits external enemies. He underlined that all major decisions must be coordinated through the Supreme National Security Council and receive the leader’s explicit go-ahead. The timing of his comments coincides with growing speculation about a possible 60-day ceasefire that could involve restrictions on Iran’s nuclear activities, navigation rights in the Strait of Hormuz, and the easing of selected sanctions. Pezeshkian also reminded Iranians of their historical resilience by referencing the battle for Khorramshahr, a port city that endured heavy destruction in the 1980s yet emerged as a lasting emblem of national strength. Today, the city’s name adorns one of Iran’s most powerful ballistic missiles, regularly showcased in military parades.
