In a significant diplomatic engagement, outgoing Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma paid a farewell visit to Bangladesh Prime Minister Tariq Rahman in Dhaka. The meeting, also attended by Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman, provided an opportunity to review ongoing cooperation and explore new avenues for collaboration. Prime Minister Rahman thanked Mr. Verma for his contributions to India-Bangladesh relations and wished him well in his upcoming role as Ambassador to Belgium and the EU. The two sides agreed to work through bilateral mechanisms to further deepen the partnership. Mr. Verma, who was appointed to his new position in April, will depart Dhaka on 27 May. Dinesh Trivedi, a former Lok Sabha MP from Barrackpore and multiple-term Rajya Sabha member, will succeed him. Earlier engagements between Indian and Bangladeshi leaders, including Jaishankar’s visit to Dhaka, have set the stage for continued high-level dialogue focused on economic growth and regional stability.
