President Donald Trump announced that Chinese President Xi Jinping has approved the TikTok deal, allowing the video-sharing platform to continue operating in the United States. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, President Trump stated he had a good conversation with President Xi, who has approved the TikTok deal. Trump indicated that the deal is nearing completion, with only a formal signature remaining. He added that the TikTok deal is expected soon, with investors preparing. Trump emphasized that the US will have very tight control over the app and that American investors will have control. He thanked President Xi Jinping for this agreement. The announcement followed a phone conversation between Trump and Xi, where various issues, including the TikTok deal, were discussed. ByteDance subsequently issued a statement expressing gratitude to both presidents for their attention to TikTok. The law passed in April 2024 aimed to ban the app from January 19, 2025, but the Trump administration has not yet implemented it. The US is keen to reach an agreement with China that allows American investors more control over TikTok.
