Thousands of people demonstrated in Washington D.C. against the deployment of the National Guard. They marched to the White House, chanting slogans against U.S. President Donald Trump. Protesters carried placards with slogans. Trump had ordered the deployment of 800 National Guard personnel in Washington on August 12, stating the move was to address the deteriorating law and order situation in the capital.
The rally began at Dupont Circle. Protesters chanted slogans such as “Shame on You” and “Trump Must Go.” They demanded an end to Trump’s order declaring a crime emergency. Demonstrators marched towards the White House, continuing their chants while officers from the D.C. Metropolitan Police observed from a distance.
