Thousands of people are protesting on the streets of Israel. Demonstrators, focused on the hostages, are stating that the ongoing Israeli actions in Gaza are endangering the lives of the hostages. The protestors are demanding that the Netanyahu government implement a ceasefire to ensure the release of the hostages. According to reports, the police have arrested 25 protestors from various cities in Israel, including Jerusalem.
Police used water cannons and clashed with protestors at a major tunnel leading to the capital, preventing them from entering the city. The demonstrations are now moving from Route 16 towards Aza Street, where the Prime Minister’s residence is located. Despite the police force, the people do not seem to be stopping. One protestor, detained outside the tunnel, said, “Arrest me, but the protest movement will continue.”
Former hostages have come forward saying that military pressure cannot bring back the hostages.
Nationwide protests are taking place in Israel for the release of the hostages. During a one-day protest at Hostage Square in Tel Aviv, released hostage Arbel Yehud told people, “I know what it’s like to be imprisoned. I know that military pressure does not bring back hostages, but kills them. The only way to bring them back is an agreement, without any games, immediately.”
The police stated that they have arrested 25 protestors across the country this morning. These arrests were made amidst nationwide protests and roadblocks regarding the hostages, a ceasefire agreement, and a demand to end the war. These demonstrations began after the Israeli cabinet’s order to fully occupy Gaza and are calling for an agreement to be reached as soon as possible for the release of the hostages.
