Quad Ministers Gather in Delhi as China Pressure Mounts

Senior diplomats from the Quad nations will convene in New Delhi for a key meeting aimed at addressing shared security concerns and economic resilience. Japan's Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi will join his counterparts from the United States, Australia, and India on May 26. Motegi’s four-day visit to India begins on May 24, according to Japanese sources. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrives a day earlier and is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Modi, focusing on defense, trade, and energy security. Rubio will also travel to several Indian cities including Kolkata, Agra, and Jaipur. Before reaching India, he will attend a NATO ministerial meeting in Sweden to discuss increased defense spending among alliance members. Officials say the Quad talks will emphasize cooperation on critical minerals and supply chain diversification in response to China’s growing regional assertiveness. The visit underscores the deepening strategic partnership between India and the United States amid evolving global dynamics.
