Raghav Chadda Meets Uzbek Senate Leader, Extends BRICS Forum Invite

In a diplomatic engagement on September 5, BJP MP Raghav Chadda held a meeting with Tanila Narbaeva, the chairperson of Uzbekistan’s Senate, in the historic city of Samarkand. Chadda publicly shared on X that Narbaeva, the first woman to head the Uzbek upper chamber, was personally invited to attend the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum scheduled for October in New Delhi.

Narbaeva’s political résumé includes a stint as Deputy Prime Minister from 2016 to 2019 and leadership of the Women’s Committee. During the meeting, both leaders discussed the expanding bilateral ties, referencing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent state visit to Uzbekistan and the mutual interest in deeper parliamentary cooperation.

India’s current BRICS chairmanship involves orchestrating the bloc’s agenda, hosting key meetings, and facilitating cooperation among member states. Chadda, who is also part of India’s delegation at the Inter‑Parliamentary Union’s youth conference in Samarkand, highlighted the invitation as a step toward strengthening multilateral parliamentary dialogue.
