Authorities Issue Travel Warning as Floodwaters Sweep Through Rasuwa

A severe flash flood in the Rasuwa district of Nepal forced authorities to issue an immediate travel advisory. The rapid rise of the Bhote Koshi River resulted in seven confirmed deaths and a large number of missing travelers.

The Nepal Tourism Department disclosed that 384 tourists are currently unaccounted for, with 291 being foreign nationals. Among these, 105 are Indian citizens, split between two reporting agencies – 59 from one and 46 from another.

To safeguard the public, traffic police have halted all vehicle movement from Kathmandu toward the hardest‑hit zones, including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, and Chitwan. The ministry urged citizens to refrain from entering the disaster area until official safety confirmations are released.

Two army helicopters have been dispatched to assist rescue teams. Interior Minister Sudhan Gurung called on residents and tourists near the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers to stay vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel, and cooperate with local authorities.
