Rescue teams pull survivors from rubble after monsoon‑triggered collapse in Kohat

ISLAMABAD, July 14 – In Kohat’s Malgin village, a house gave way late Monday night after relentless monsoon rain saturated the ground. Emergency responders from Rescue 1122 arrived at the scene and began a painstaking operation to locate anyone trapped beneath the wreckage. Out of the 23 people inside, 14 were rescued alive and taken to the nearest hospital; nine were pronounced dead on arrival, including six female family members and three youngsters. Medical staff are monitoring the injured, many of whom have serious internal injuries. Provincial disaster officials had earlier warned of possible dam releases due to rising water levels, a factor that may have compounded the structural failure.
