Russia has proposed a significant offer to India to bolster its air power. According to reports, Russia has offered to supply and facilitate local production of its fifth-generation Su-57 stealth fighter jet to India. Sources indicate that Russia is slated to complete the delivery of all five S-400 Triumf air defense systems to India by 2026. Concurrently, discussions between the two nations are ongoing regarding additional S-400 systems.
Dmitry Shugaev, the head of Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC), stated that India is already utilizing the S-400 system, suggesting the potential for further collaboration in this domain. This indicates that a new deal could be reached.
The Su-57 is a fifth-generation stealth multi-role fighter jet designed by Russia for future air combat. It is engineered to evade enemy radar detection, capable of supersonic speeds and long-range strikes. The jet is equipped with advanced avionics, offering multi-dimensional combat capabilities. This acquisition would significantly enhance the capabilities of the Indian Air Force, providing a strategic advantage against rising air power, particularly from nations like China.
