Russian ‘Shahed’ Drones Hit Ukrainian Infrastructure as War Stalls

Kyiv’s presidential administration reported that on Saturday Russia unleashed roughly 500 drones, many of the Shahed type, in a coordinated strike across Ukraine. President Zelensky noted that the drones remain airborne throughout the day, underscoring a new Russian strategy: when frontline offensives stall, the war is taken to the home front. Targets include grain silos, fuel depots, pharmaceutical factories, passenger rail services, residential blocks and private enterprises. Earlier this week a steel plant under Indian ownership, an American sunflower‑oil processor and a Polish plumbing‑components maker were hit. The attacks have also compromised truck parking zones, seaports, retail malls and energy‑related infrastructure. Zelensky appealed to allies for unequivocal moral and political denunciation and urged the maintenance of sanctions aimed at Russian oligarchs who profit from the conflict.
