Scholars Discuss Diplomatic Strategies Amid Iran‑Israel Tensions

On 13 September, Mahesh Yogi Ramayana University in Ayodhya hosted its first national forum on the Iran‑Israel conflict, a two‑day event organized with ICSSR support. The conference attracted more than one hundred PhD scholars and upwards of thirty students, who delivered papers through blended online‑offline formats.

Four expert‑led sessions examined how the war influences India’s diplomatic calculations, especially given the country's long‑standing relationship with Iran and its growing strategic partnership with Israel. Each session was overseen by a subject expert and a chair, with Karunashankar Upadhyay and Dr. Neela Tiwari presiding over the opening day.

Vice Chancellor Bhanupratap Singh highlighted the necessity of a balanced Indian stance, noting that approximately 80% of India’s crude oil supply is sourced from the region. The panel warned that an unresolved conflict would elevate oil prices, trigger higher inflation, and distort global trade flows, reinforcing the call for peaceful resolution.
