Following the resumption of diplomatic relations between India and Canada, the banned Khalistani group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) has declared its intention to “siege” the Indian Consulate in Vancouver on September 18. The pro-Khalistan organization has called for a takeover of the consulate, specifically urging Indo-Canadians planning visits to the consulate to reschedule their appointments. The group issued a statement alleging that Indian consulates are operating a spy network and conducting surveillance targeting Khalistanis. The statement referenced Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s 2023 announcement to Parliament, which indicated an investigation into the involvement of Indian agents in the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The statement further claimed that Indian consulates continue to engage in espionage and monitoring of Khalistan Referendum campaigners.
