Souda Bay Welcomes Indian Navy Warship INS Trishul

Indian Navy warship INS Trishul has arrived at Greece's Souda Bay port, marking a key stop in its Mediterranean Sea deployment. The ship reached the port on October 31.

The visit is designed to deepen maritime cooperation between the Indian Navy and the Hellenic Navy. It will also help promote professional relations among naval personnel from both countries.

During the stopover, crew members of INS Trishul will meet senior Greek Navy officials and representatives of the Indian Embassy in Athens. The two navies will hold professional talks during this time.

Sailors from each country are scheduled to visit the other's warships. Cultural activities will create further opportunities for mutual understanding.

The Indian sailors will also familiarise themselves with the Naval Support Activity (NSA) at Souda Bay and the NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Centre (NMIOTC). The visit will give them a firsthand view of the facilities and training activities there.

The crew will pay respects at the Souda Bay War Memorial, honouring the martyred soldiers. The warship will also be opened to the public while it remains docked at the port.

The visit is expected to give new strength to naval cooperation between India and Greece. It is also likely to support continued contact and professional ties among sailors of both navies.

INS Trishul had earlier been stationed in British waters as a display of the Indian Navy's power. The Indian Navy and the Royal Navy carried out a joint exercise there.

The drills covered coordinated movement at sea, air activities, and countering underwater submarines. The guided missile-equipped ship reached the British port of Plymouth on October 8, and the exercise continued until October 15.

This annual exercise is a major element of a naval partnership that has run for more than twenty years. Over time, its scope and complexity have expanded to include joint operations in varied maritime environments.
