Stakeholders Gather in Delhi for Water Week as Policies Target Sustainable Management

NEW DELHI, Sept 22 – Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan inaugurated the 5‑day India International Water Week 2026 on Tuesday, marking the beginning of a high‑level dialogue on water security and climate adaptation.

The event will see participation from central ministries, state government representatives, international partners, academia, industry leaders and civil‑society groups. Key sessions will explore inclusive water administration, collaborative use of water resources, technology‑enabled water security, and the role of water in mitigating climate‑related hazards.

The Ministry of Water Resources, in collaboration with six central ministries and fourteen state partners, has organised an international exhibition (Sept 22‑25) to display innovative technologies and financing models for modernising water infrastructure. A dedicated International WASH Conference (Sept 22‑24) will address drinking‑water delivery, sanitation facilities and behaviour change for public‑health improvement.

The summit’s overarching goal is to turn ideas into large‑scale, implementable solutions by aligning policy, financing, technology and community participation, thereby strengthening water security and climate resilience across India and beyond. The conclave will wrap up on 25 Sept, followed by study tours on 26 Sept.
