State Enterprises Mobilize Over 800 Personnel for Shigatse Disaster Relief

Beijing, September 4 – In response to the landslide that hit Shigatse’s Qilang district, China’s Ministry of Emergency Management ordered an immediate deployment of central state‑owned firms. A combined force of 796 workers and 522 equipment sets was sent to the disaster zone.

The joint command centre coordinated search‑and‑rescue operations, cleared the main transport arteries, and kept a constant watch on hazardous zones.

The Natural Disaster Engineering Emergency Rescue Center supplied 310 staff members and 120 pieces of heavy equipment to restore the damaged segment of National Highway G216, with work completed by 10:00 a.m. on September 2.

China Railway assembled a team of 196 rescuers, 131 tool kits, 300 tons of steel plates, and 8,413 m³ of rock, while also launching 138 drones for real‑time monitoring.

Additional contributions came from the China Railway Construction Corporation, China Communications Construction Company, China Power Construction Corporation, China Energy Engineering Corporation, and China Yajiyang Group, each providing specialized personnel and rescue apparatus to ensure swift rehabilitation of the affected roads.
