Strategic Defence Partnership Expanded in Abu Dhabi Talks

Abu Dhabi saw Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh and UAE Air Force Commander Major General Rashid Mohammed Al Shamsi convene on September 4 to map out the future of India‑UAE defence ties. The two senior officials explored options to broaden joint operations, share intelligence, and coordinate air‑defence strategies aimed at ensuring stability across the Indian Ocean and Gulf regions.

The meeting echoed earlier engagements, such as the June encounter between UAE army deputy commander Brigadier General Mohammed Khamees Al‑Hasani and Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, which focused on expanding professional military exchanges.

Both sides referenced the strategic dialogue initiated in January when President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and Prime Minister Narendra Modi affirmed defence cooperation as a key pillar of the bilateral relationship.

The concluding joint statement highlighted the momentum of recent senior‑officer visits, the efficacy of joint drills, and the signing of a Letter of Intent that sets a clear roadmap for deeper, multi‑domain collaboration.
