Strategic Partnership Boost: India and Morocco Target Wider Economic Ties

On August 25, the seventh convening of the India‑Morocco Joint Commission set an ambitious agenda to broaden economic interaction. Co‑chaired by Union Minister Jitin Prasad and Moroccan trade secretary Umar Hejira, the meeting reviewed existing collaborations and laid out a plan to double trade volumes by 2030. The dialogue highlighted the need for reduced trade friction, increased business matchmaking and active private‑sector participation.

The two governments affirmed their commitment to deepen cooperation in sectors already active, such as agriculture, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, automobiles, mining, energy and IT. They also explored possibilities in manufacturing, agri‑processing, renewable energy and high‑tech innovation. By expanding industrial ties, both nations anticipate new market access for companies, a rise in job creation, and enhanced technology transfer. The joint commission’s outcomes are seen as a catalyst for a robust strategic partnership that will also strengthen global supply‑chain resilience.
