Strengthening Maritime, Renewable Energy and AI Cooperation Between India and Seychelles

On September 3, the President of Seychelles’ National Assembly, H.E. Ajrel Ernest Arenesta, met with India’s Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan at the Parliament House. The gathering highlighted concrete steps to deepen cooperation in maritime security, clean‑energy generation, fisheries research and capacity‑building programmes.

The vice‑president announced that India will extend its artificial‑intelligence know‑how to support Seychelles’ legislative work, offering translation assistance and a digital archiving platform. He stressed that shared democratic principles form the bedrock of the burgeoning bilateral friendship.

Both sides identified joint projects in offshore wind, solar power and ocean‑based renewable initiatives as priority areas. In the maritime domain, they agreed to increase joint patrolling and information‑sharing to safeguard the Indian Ocean’s trade routes.

Earlier, Speaker Om Birla had hosted President Arensta, discussing digital‑parliament upgrades, AI applications, infrastructure development, health‑care cooperation and renewable‑energy ventures. The series of meetings coincided with the 50th anniversary of Seychelles’ independence and the milestone of five decades of diplomatic relations, reinforcing a common resolve to amplify the Global South’s influence.
