According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, the earthquake struck at 12:25 PM local time, with its epicenter located in Mandalay, Myanmar. The distance from the epicenter to Dhaka was approximately 597 kilometers. The earthquake has been classified as a major seismic event. The USGS indicated that the earthquake’s center was 16 kilometers north-northwest of Sagaing, Myanmar, at a depth of 10 kilometers, causing it to be felt in various parts of Bangladesh.
