The Taliban regime has asserted that its forces killed 58 Pakistani soldiers and injured 30 more in a retaliatory operation along the Durand Line. The Afghan military also reportedly destroyed 20 Pakistani security outposts and seized weapons during the intense engagement on Saturday night. During the operation, nine Afghan soldiers were martyred and 16 were wounded, according to the Taliban’s chief spokesman. Military action ceased at midnight following appeals from Saudi Arabia and Qatar, as reported by Tolo News. The Taliban spokesperson also accused Pakistan of harboring ISIS-K training centers in its Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, claiming these bases were used to orchestrate recent attacks in Iran and Moscow. They urged Pakistan to hand over key ISIS-K members. A Pakistani delegation’s request to visit Afghanistan was reportedly rejected by the Taliban in retaliation for prior Pakistani airstrikes. The spokesperson reiterated that any infringement on Afghan sovereignty would be met with a response. Earlier, the Taliban-led Ministry of Defence had condemned Pakistan’s airstrikes as a violation of sovereignty. Separately, Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, while visiting India, cautioned Pakistan against blaming Kabul for its domestic issues, warning that force is not a solution and historical attempts to control Afghanistan have ended poorly for external powers.
