Tehran Rejects U.S. Sanctions as Inhumane, Calls for Dialogue

President Masoud Pezeshkian used his appearance at the Yerevan biodiversity summit to denounce American sanctions as incompatible with humanitarian principles. He insisted that Iran will not surrender to pressure and highlighted the legacy of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who opposed any nuclear weapons development.

The Iranian leader stressed that Tehran is prepared to discuss its nuclear programme with any willing partner, but warned that the United States believes it can force Iran into submission through force. He described recent U.S.-Israel strikes as “unjust and inhumane,” urging a shift toward diplomatic engagement.

Pezeshkian also pointed to the broader regional impact, saying that continued punitive measures could destabilise the Middle East and hurt global security. He called on Washington to replace coercion with constructive dialogue.
