Amidst the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Europe is witnessing a resurgence of tension. Poland, concerned about drone threats, deployed Polish and allied aircraft, even closing an airport in the eastern city of Lublin. This action followed the downing of Russian drones in Polish airspace by NATO allies just three days prior. Meanwhile, Romania scrambled fighter jets on Saturday in response to a drone entering its airspace during Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure near its border. Authorities reported the deployment of Polish and allied aircraft in a “preventive” operation within Poland’s airspace due to the threat of drone attacks in neighboring areas of Ukraine, leading to the closure of Lublin airport. This alert was issued in response to multiple Russian drones entering Polish territory earlier in the week, prompting NATO to dispatch fighter jets. Air raid sirens were also activated.
