Thousands missing as Nepal floods claim lives, India prepares assistance

The flood tragedy in the Rasuwa region has already caused at least 160 confirmed deaths, with officials warning that the final death toll could rise to three‑digit numbers. Over 300 Indian citizens, most of them pilgrims on the Kailash‑Manasarovar trek, are reported missing. Nepal's Foreign Minister Bishar Kumar Khandal told reporters that the death count has risen to 177 while rescue teams continue to assess the full scale of the disaster.

Tharoor appealed for solidarity, noting that every family grieving the loss of loved ones deserves swift action and prayers. He urged India to keep extending help until the last missing person is accounted for.
