Tibetan Leader Begins Second Term with Focus on Middle Way

Penpa Tsering was re-installed as president of the Central Tibetan Administration in a dignified ceremony attended by the Dalai Lama in Dharamshala. Addressing the gathering, Tsering reiterated the CTA’s commitment to the Middle Way policy, which seeks a peaceful, negotiated settlement between Tibet and China. He acknowledged that Beijing’s current stance on nationalities leaves little room for immediate dialogue, yet the administration will keep lines of communication open while strengthening global advocacy. The incoming cabinet will build on the work of its predecessor by expanding social welfare initiatives and reinforcing political outreach. Tsering stressed that every success of the last term was made possible by the spiritual leader’s blessings and the determination of Tibetans within Tibet to safeguard their cultural heritage. He concluded by affirming that the struggle’s ultimate goal remains a long-term, stable solution that respects the aspirations of the Tibetan people rather than any externally imposed control.
