On US Independence Day, former US President Donald Trump signed the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ into law. The legislation encompasses tax cuts, increased funding for the Pentagon, and provisions for bolstering border security. The signing took place at a White House military family picnic, marking a key legislative achievement for Trump’s administration following negotiations with Republican lawmakers. During the ceremony, Trump stated, ‘We made promises, and it’s really promises made, promises kept, and we’ve kept them.’ The event was attended by First Lady Melania Trump, Cabinet members, and several Republican leaders. The passing of the bill was celebrated, with Trump calling it a ‘triumph of democracy.’ The bill passed in the House of Representatives with a final vote of 218-214 and in the Senate with a 51-50 vote, with the Vice-President casting the tie-breaking vote. The event also included a flypast of two B-2 bombers.
