Former US President Donald Trump has initiated legal action against The Wall Street Journal and its parent company, News Corp., seeking $10 billion in damages. The lawsuit concerns a recent report alleging Trump sent a birthday greeting to Jeffrey Epstein in 2003 that included a drawing of a naked woman and references to shared secrets. The complaint, filed in the Southern District of Florida, names several defendants, including Rupert Murdoch and Robert Thomson. Trump has vehemently denied the report, calling it false and defamatory. The lawsuit also details attempts to prevent the article’s publication, including a warning to the Journal. In response to the report and subsequent publicity, Trump instructed Attorney General Pam Bondi to provide testimony and the DOJ has moved to release grand jury records related to the Epstein case.
