President Donald Trump has presented a 20-point plan to end the Gaza war. While Israel has expressed its readiness to accept the deal, the ultimate decision rests with Hamas. Trump has given Hamas until Sunday, September 5th, at 6 PM to agree to the terms. Failure to comply could result in severe consequences.
Trump has repeatedly issued ultimatums to Hamas regarding the deal, warning of potential devastation if the group refuses to cooperate. The implication is that a major attack on Gaza could follow.
Trump stated, “If Hamas doesn’t agree to the deal, a hell will break loose like no one has ever seen.” In a post on Truth Social, Trump warned Hamas, “We will establish peace in the Middle East somehow. Violence and bloodshed will now stop. All hostages should be released, including those who are no longer alive.”
Trump’s statement, “We will establish peace somehow,” signals a significant message to Hamas.
Trump issued a final warning to Hamas before the ultimatum deadline, saying, “Take immediate action on the peace agreement, or there will be more destruction in Gaza.” Trump has warned Hamas to act quickly and agree to a peace agreement with Israel, or face further devastation.
The phrase “more destruction in Gaza” implies that Trump may take action against Hamas, potentially launching an attack, if the group remains unwilling to accept the deal. Israel has also indicated that it would join the United States in an attack if Hamas rejects the agreement.
Trump stated on Truth Social, “Hamas must move forward immediately, accept the deal, or all agreements will be considered canceled. I will not tolerate any delays, as many people think there will be. Gaza can no longer be a threat. Complete it soon.”
He also expressed his satisfaction that Israel had temporarily halted bombing to allow for the release of hostages and the completion of the peace agreement. However, the Gaza Civil Defense Agency claimed that the Israeli army conducted multiple airstrikes on Gaza City overnight.
Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu immediately accepted the deal. All eyes are now on Hamas. The deal includes 20 points, one of which requires Hamas to lay down its arms and have no future role in Gaza. Hamas has not yet accepted these conditions, but has agreed to the release of hostages, which is considered partial acceptance.
Hamas responded positively to the deal on Friday, agreeing to end the two-year-long war and release all hostages. However, Hamas still disagrees with certain points.
Hamas’s primary objection concerns the future political structure of Gaza. Hamas wants the authority in Gaza to be handed over to an independent Palestinian technical government. Trump’s proposal calls for an international transition body, or Board of Peace.
The American proposal includes a key point that Hamas must lay down its arms. Hamas has also made it clear that it demands the complete and final withdrawal of the Israeli army. Trump’s peace proposal states that Hamas will have no role in the future government of Gaza. However, the organization has neither accepted nor completely rejected this.
Netanyahu expressed hope that the release of hostages would be announced within days and vowed to disarm Hamas. Meanwhile, talks will be held between Hamas and Israeli delegations in Egypt on Monday to discuss the hostages and the ceasefire.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced that delegations from Hamas and Israel would participate in talks under the Trump plan. These discussions will cover the details of the exchange of Palestinian prisoners for the release of all Israeli hostages. The Foreign Ministry statement expressed hope that these discussions would lead to concrete progress toward ending the Gaza war and reducing the suffering of the Palestinian people.
