U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio made a memorable stop at the Taj Mahal while on his four-day visit to India. Joined by his wife Janet, Deputy National Security Advisor Robert Gabriel, and Ambassador Sergio Gor, Rubio spent time admiring the stunning white marble mausoleum that stands as a testament to India's artistic legacy. Ambassador Gor posted images of the group at the monument, expressing how meaningful it felt to return to this architectural marvel. He highlighted the Taj Mahal's status as an enduring symbol of Indian craftsmanship and noted that its beauty never fails to inspire awe among those who visit. The visit to Agra came after productive meetings in New Delhi, where Rubio met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and received an invitation for Modi to visit Washington. Discussions with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar focused on strengthening cooperation in trade, defense, energy, and strategic affairs. Rubio began his India tour in Kolkata before heading to the capital. Following his time at the Taj Mahal, Rubio traveled to Jaipur to visit the Amer Fort, which was temporarily closed to the public for his private tour. The cultural excursion offered him and his wife a deeper understanding of Rajasthan's royal heritage. He is expected to return to Delhi on Tuesday to participate in the Quad summit, marking the conclusion of a trip designed to reinforce the growing partnership between India and the United States.
