UN Supports Mediation by Gulf Nations Amid Rising Humanitarian Crisis

The United Nations expressed full backing for mediation efforts led by Qatar, Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. According to spokesperson Stephen Duarrick, the Secretary‑General remains in close contact with these regional mediators. He warned that the war’s humanitarian and economic fallout—disrupted food supplies, limited fertilizer availability and rising energy costs—demands urgent diplomatic action.
