US Ambassador Sergio Gor Highlights Progress in India‑US Trade Talks

At the opening of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India’s 66th annual session, US Ambassador Sergio Gor outlined the milestones achieved in the India‑United States trade dialogue.

He pointed out that recent negotiations have moved from broad principles to detailed clauses covering customs procedures, intellectual‑property protection and investment incentives. The ambassador noted that both governments are aligning policies to ensure a level playing field for businesses on either side of the Pacific.

The ambassador confirmed that Minister Piyush Goyal will travel to Washington later this month for the G20 trade ministers summit, where the two sides will seek to finalize the pending bilateral trade pact. Gor expressed confidence that the meeting will cement the forward‑looking agenda both countries have been pursuing.

Gor also reminded the audience of the Pact Silica declaration, signed earlier in the year, which is designed to create a regulatory ecosystem that nurtures innovation and accelerates cross‑border investments. He said the initiative will empower startups and larger enterprises alike, fostering a new wave of economic activity.

The remarks underscored the expanding scope of India‑U.S. cooperation, which now spans sectors such as renewable energy, digital economy, and advanced manufacturing, reflecting a partnership that goes far beyond simple trade in goods.
