US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the success of a recent US operation in Iran on Sunday. Speaking alongside Chairperson of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Air Force General Dan Caine, Hegseth stated that precision strikes were successfully carried out at the Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz nuclear facilities. Hegseth reported that the operation, ordered by President Trump, was intended to destroy or severely impair Iran’s nuclear program. He emphasized that the President’s directive was clear, resulting in the ‘obliteration’ of Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Hegseth clarified that the strikes were not aimed at Iranian troops or civilians. He also highlighted Trump’s long-standing warnings to Iran against developing nuclear weapons, asserting that this operation fulfilled the President’s commitment. The Defence Secretary described the operation as bold and unmatched, adding that no other military could have executed it. President Trump, speaking from the White House, confirmed the ‘massive precision’ strikes and warned of further retaliation if Iran did not seek peace. Iran has condemned the attacks, vowing to continue its nuclear program.
