US to grant visas to Iran's reduced delegation for UNGA session

The U.S. Department of State announced on Thursday that it will issue visas to Iran’s main delegation for the upcoming UN General Assembly, stating that the move is part of the host nation’s responsibilities. The statement clarified that the Iranian team arriving this year is smaller than the one that attended the previous session.

U.S. officials also indicated that the visa issuance does not imply any change in policy toward Iran’s nuclear program, and that the decision simply fulfills standard diplomatic protocol for UN meetings.
