Uzbekistan’s top honour reinforces India‑Uzbekistan friendship

In Tashkent on 30 August, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Uzbekistan’s highest civilian award, the Oliy Dara Jali Dostlik Order, presented by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Following the ceremony, Modi declared that the bilateral relationship had been elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership.

He lauded President Mirziyoyev’s steadfast leadership and his dedication to deepening the historic friendship between the two nations. Modi noted that the new partnership framework will support joint ventures in defence production, smart infrastructure, and people‑to‑people contacts.

The prime minister stressed that the award is not merely a personal accolade but a tribute to the 140 crore citizens of India who cherish the ties with Uzbekistan. He underscored the meaning of “dostlik” – friendship – as the core sentiment driving future collaboration.

Modi affirmed India’s resolve to stand shoulder‑to‑shoulder with Uzbekistan in global platforms, presenting a solidified voice for the Global South. He also reminded both peoples of the responsibility that accompanies such honours, pledging unwavering support.
